What in inspiring story, and what a wonderful thing Holly has been doing. I had a very good job, got hurt at work and am no longer working. I went from $63,000 a month to $61 a day, overnight!! It was awful. With two disabled family members in my home that depended on my income to survive, my husband and my 24-year old son, it was truly devastating. I have recently been awarded my disability retirement, but my income was slashed 1/3 from where we were. Well, with a large mortgage, money is still very very tight, so, I was at K-mart one day, and thought, why not throw a couple of seeds in the yard and grow my own vegetables. Easy, throw them in the ground, put water on them, not a lot of work to water. I can sit if I get tired as I have bad knees and a bad back. It is going back to what I knew, what I grew up with. My mother and father had nine children and you know their money was tight. My father grew his vegetables and it was wonderful. The cost of vegetables is so high, it's the only way to have nice vegetables any more is to grow your own. Now that things are so bad, I am even considering having my roses pulled out so I can have more food, and I love my roses, but I would rather feed my family.

I assumed I knew Alicia because I was familiar with her impressive business persona. I had no idea she had such profound personal experiences and insights, and I'm so glad that she was courageous enough to share them. I had never heard the term "glass children" but I know several, and so do you. They deserve a strong, articulate advocate like Alicia, and our understanding, recognition and support.

In addition to furthering her own cause, Alicia opened me up to the realization that EVERYONE I meet has incredible experiences and stories and ideas I can learn from.

That sounds fantastic. I am so bummed because I want to be there but will not be in town. All I can do is just keep reading about it. I would say good luck, but you clearly do not need it - congrats!
