Yes! You too can give a TED talk! (In our case a TEDxSanAntonio talk.) It’s easy! It’s fun! It’s rewarding!
This is the part where I blah, blah, blah about bullet number 1 and bullet number 2. But hark! What video is embedded in yonder blog? (Sorry, don’t know the Middle English word for “this”.)
Do you know someone with a powerful idea? Nominate them to be a speaker for the Alamo City’s first official TEDxSanAntonio.
TEDxSanAntonio is a daylong series of short lectures designed to inspire people to initiate big changes. We’re looking for local voices that few have heard before from diverse fields including art, science, culture, economics, environment, entertainment, education and more.
To nominate yourself or someone else, just submit a Speaker Application Form. Deadline for submitting speaker nominations is August 1, 2010.
On July 16 the Programming committee will begin reviewing Speaker Applications. Speaker selection begins August 2, 2010.
Seems like a lot of time until you realize it’s Summer!
Speaker applications will be accepted through August 1, 2010.
If you know someone who would like to speak, nominate them – or they can nominate themselves – as soon as possible. Earlier nominations will benefit from more committee attention so get those nominations in.
A comment on the last post about Speaker ideas asked us to “show San Antonio something new.” TEDx is about the community so we’ll keep working on getting together the best speakers we can. But hey, San Antonio! Show us who ya got! And let’s get them in the mix.
Are you interested in helping put on TEDx San Antonio? Come to the TEDx San Antonio Volunteer Workforce Meetup and get ready share your ideas and talents with the larger TEDx community.
Do you have ideas for TEDx San Antonio? Bring them to the TEDx SA Brainstorming Mixer this evening. Please come with your ideas for inspiring, world-class, TED-quality speakers and visionaries who represent San Antonio, the topics we should consider discussing, and the people and organizations here in Central Texas you know who should be a part of our TEDx community.
The organizing committee of TEDx San Antonio had our meeting this morning, and we refocused on our overall mission. We want our minds and hearts open to new ideas, new possibilities, and to have the chance to contribute. Specifically, we are working to:
Create a TEDx San Antonio community where we can gather to share ideas and be inspired.
Spread awareness of the “brain candy” that is TED.
Add San Antonio voices to the overall TED community.
This “Taste of TED” video offers a glimpse of what the larger TED Conference aims to do – and it’s what we’re trying to do with TEDx San Antonio.
So if you find TEDtalks to be “brain candy” too, know of people and ideas and great work going on in San Antonio or Central and South Texas, or are simply interested in finding out more, please connect with us on Facebook (top right corner of this page).
Do you know TED? TED is an amazing conference where remarkable people gather to share in 20 minutes what they’re passionate about, working on, thinking, creating. TED captures these talks and distributes them free to the world.
TEDtalks are 20-minute talks to share Ideas Worth Spreading. If you’re interested, please friend us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter or keep checking back here for details as we move forward to bring TEDx to San Antonio.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
